Spanish
is one of the most used global languages along with English. It is
also one of six official working languages of the United Nations.
Today, 410 million people in the world speak spanish. Spanish is
spoken most extensively in South and North America, Europe, and
certain parts of Asia and Africa. It is spoken on all continents
though.
There
is a great recognition for Spanish language in the world of
entertainment especially music. One cannon help shaking for the beats
of Spanish music. I love listening to Spanish music too. Eventhough
Spanish is written like English (the English Alphabets) it sounds
much different from English. The first word I learnt in Spanish was
"Gracias" meaning "thankyou." It is not difficult
to learn Spanish words especially when you live in the south and west
coast of North America.
I
have a friend who speaks Spanish. She translates me the language
whenever I come across new Spanish words. She is my mobile Spanish
dictionary, faster than my search engine on dial up connection! I got
this special passion for Spanish when I first landed in North America
at my 24th year of life and when I happened to hear Spanish music on
the FM everytime I drive to work. I loved the beat and the rhythm of
it, but couldn't get to grasp even a word. Then when I spoke to my
Spanish friends at work about learning the language, they most
happily came forward to help me. One of them said, "You can
learn to speak Spanish easily. It is not a difficult language at
all." I asked my friend, "Can you teach me a song in
Spanish, I want to lull my baby to sleep in Spanish?" And there
I learnt my first Spanish song,
"A
la nanita nana, nanita ea, nanita ea,
MMi
Jesus tiene sueno, bendito sea, bendito sea."
I
have four children now and it still remains my favorite lullaby. Now
I would say to everyone, "You can learn to speak and 'sing'
Spanish easily. It is not a difficult language." You don't any
book or school. Take help from your Spanish friends and make use of
online dictionary sites like these.
